Khloe Kardashian's wedding pictures

Khloe looked absolutely beautiful on her wedding day! I loved her Vera Wang wedding gown it was young, sexy and modern. I didn't like Lamar's suit though I would've liked to see him in black not gray.

It looks like purple is the new "it" wedding color of the season Alyssa Milano also had a purple wedding when she wed in August.

Is 50 to old to get married?

As long as the couple is in love with each other that’s all that matters. It really doesn’t matter how old the bride or groom is. More and more people are waiting to get married later in life now. A lot of 50 year old brides are looking anything but old these days and I have a few pictures to prove it. Let’s face it 50 is not what it used to be, 50 is the new 40. We only live once so why not have what we want, with the man we want, right?

I’ve seen plenty of fabulous mature brides on TV wedding shows and have felt very emotional watching and hearing their story. It really is special to me when I meet a couple who have been together for many years and are still happy enough with each other and in love enough with each other to want to get married.

I met a few couples in the last few weeks that will be tying the knot next year and I want to congratulate them on their commitment. I also want to congratulate Frank and Cecilia for their upcoming wedding in October I couldn’t be happier to plan this wedding for them they truly deserve it.

Happy planning brides! Chao!

Vacation

I was on a family vacation with the in-laws in Cancun Mexico and of course beach weddings came to my mind. A wedding in Mexico would be beautiful and in these economic times a money savor too. I checked out a few sites in case any of my brides are interested.

Well now I'm back to work!

Candy Shoppe

My first Candy Shoppe! And it was a hit!

I helped my sister plan her son’s birthday party at Bowler City and I suggested she have a Candy Shoppe and it was so much fun and really well-received.

Having a Candy Shoppe at your kid’s birthday party is a fun new way to incorporate candy. Instead of the same old favors that you get at every party like chalk, bubbles, cheap candies and dollar store junk why not have a Candy Shoppe? Kids will love it and parents will rave about it! The kids will have a blast picking what candy they want to fill their bags with, it will be like being at a Candy Store just better.

Happy Birthday Gio! We love you

Congratulations Leydiana & Luis 7.25.09

Leydiana and Luis were married Saturday, July 25, 2009 at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Union City, NJ. The reception took place at The Bethwood in Totowa, NJ.

I was so excited to assist Cathy of "For Your Event Planning" in the day of coordination for the happy couple.

I love this aisle runner it looks very elegant and gives it a personal touch. By Aisle Walk With You

The photo booth was a fun and different addition to their wedding. By NJ photobooth

The Wedding Cake was a three tiered round coconut filling and not only was it beautiful but delicious too it was from my favorite bakery "Carlos Bakery" in Hoboken, NJ.

Having a candy bar at your wedding is a great thank you favor for your guest. Everyone loves candy especially at the end of the night for the ride home. It's good to have something sweet to snack on especially after drinking! By For Your Event Planning

Thank you Cathy for giving me the opportunity to work with you on this beautiful wedding for the lovely couple Leydiana and Luis!

Anniversary Dance

The anniversary dance is a special dance for all the married couples at a wedding and a beautiful way to recognize the couple married the longest at the reception. The way this works is throughout the song, the DJ names the number of years being married, starting with less than one year. It continues with less than two years, five years, ten years, and so on until the couple who has been married the longest is left dancing. For my wedding my husband and I chose Always and Forever by Heatwave. It’s such a joyous event too for the couple still standing!!!

Are you including an anniversary dance in your reception? If so, to what song?

Should married people go out with their single friends to the bars or clubs?

This is part of my research of "Keeping The Marriage Alive". In general, what do you think is the purpose of going to the bar or club? Is it to hang out with your friends or meet a man/woman? Which brings us to the main question. Is it OK for married people to be at the club or bar?

In my research I found it's not the right atmosphere for married people to hang out and the single friends should respect the married friends relationship. If you really want to go to the club for the purpose it serves...to dance and hear music, why not take your spouse with you? Married people should develop other outsources for interacting with their friends, like bowling, golf, tennis, book clubs or other group activities. I believe there are better ways to enjoy life than trying to act like you're single after you've tied the knot and committed yourself to someone you love.

Let’s open this question up for discussion (is it OK for married people to be at the club or bar?) I would love to know your thoughts on this issue.

2010 Wedding Trend Prediciotion

Predicting the trend for 2010 almost seems too obvious to talk about the economy’s impact. But before you jump to conclusions about how cheap weddings are becoming, know that money is certainly not the only influence on style, fashion, or tradition. In fact, couple are getting more creative and feel freedom to make unique choices.

Here's what I think will be hot next year:

Backyard Weddings at Home

While getting married at home isn't necessarily cheaper, it feels more personal and allows you to have a more intimate affair. With this economy people want to spend less money and sometimes even feel guilty when they do spend money. A backyard event not only helps to put your guests at ease, but also allows you to make more casual, less expensive choices elsewhere.

Good Bye to the King

I still can’t believe that Michael Jackson is gone, in a weird way I feel like a family member has passed away. He was a true hero, idol, legend and genus! He will always be remembered in our hearts for all the good things he did for this world that at times treated him so cruel. Michael Jackson was the biggest and brightest star on earth.

We will never say good bye…we’ll be right there Michael! You will be truly missed. We love you.

The Appearance of Wedding Invitations

Your invitations set the tone for your occasion. Does it scream “I can’t miss this party it sounds fabulous” or does it say “maybe we will think about it”.

For starters, your invitation should match the theme or style of your event. Wedding invitations should get mailed 8 weeks prior to the event. The sooner you notify your guest the better. This is when “Save the dates” come in. Save the date cards is a necessity for weddings, especially the ones taking place on a holiday weekend, and for out of state travel so vacations are not scheduled the same time as your event. Save the dates don’t have to match your theme they can be informal. Check out the save the date cards at www.magnetstreet.com they have a fun variety.

A key part of your wedding invitation is the appearance of the envelope. Believe it or not it can say a lot of the wedding and the bride itself. Did you take your time? Did you rush to get it over with? Do you care? Did you follow the etiquette? Paying attention to this small detail can make a significant difference on how the invitation will be received by your guest. Addressing envelopes are often not paid much attention to because most couples think guest will not pay attention to them. This could be true but there are a significant few that do care. Below is a list of important factors to consider.

1) Once your invitations have been stuffed, bring one to the post office and have them weigh it. By doing this you won’t be guessing how much each stamp will cost and run the chance of having all the invitations returned back to you.

2) After you know how much each stamp will cost, go to www.zazzle.com to order some cool stamps with your names or your initials. Your guest will like the personal touch.

3) Here’s the million dollar question. “Can I use labels for my wedding invitations”? The answer is “NO” that’s not to say couples don’t use clear labels. They do. However, the label, in my opinion cheapens the look of something that should stand out as a very special and personal piece of mail. The key is to make your invitation stand out from the all the junk mail. This doesn’t mean you have to hire a calligrapher if it’s not in your budget. You have 2 choices: A) hand write them or have someone with nice handwriting do them for you. B) you can find a fancy font and print the address right on the envelope and this will almost look like you hired a calligrapher and it will show the guest you took your time and didn't rushed through the process to get them done and over with.

4) Last step, make sure you “hand cancel” your invitations. Last thing you want is your guest to receive a dirty invitation with black ink all over it after all the hard work you did. Hand Canceling simply means that the post office will not run your invitations through a machine they will stamp them manually instead. By doing this your invitations will look nicer and you won't risk having them destroyed by the machine. Beware, most post office don’t like to do this because it’s a lot of work for them, so make sure you shop around for post offices and mail a test one to your parents house first.

Remember wedding invitations are good news and tokens of appreciation by the couple to their friends and families. Make every wedding invitation count for that reason.

Bridesmaid Dress

If you saw my show and are wondering where I got the bridesmaid dresses they were custom made. I’ve been getting a few requests on where I got the bridesmaid dresses glad you liked them!

Why do women wear a white dress to their wedding?

Did you know that wedding gowns were not always white? The white wedding dress tradition started in Britain with the wedding of Queen Victoria in 1840. She was the first to wear a white wedding dress. Soon after other women wanted to copy her, just like we copy what celebrities wear today! Therefore, wearing a white dress didn’t have anything to do with purity. In fact, it meant wealth since only a wealthy woman could afford to wear an all white dress just once.

The majority of women these days continue to wear white at their weddings regardless of the nature of their relationships. Now in the 21st century wearing white symbolizes a women's new beginning; her new life begins on her wedding day! However, Chinese, Indians and Mexicans have traditions of wearing red. Color means different things to different people. Remember it’s your day so have it your way.

Tips on communicating with wedding professionals

As you plan your upcoming event you realize you have dozens of deadlines to meet and maybe a few pesky relatives to calm and details to communicate with vendors. Without the luxury of more leisure time to give us the time to understand others better, misunderstandings are likely to develop.

Tip 1: Meeting Face to Face

As common sense as it may seem, some people don’t have the time to meet each vendor face to face and end up booking them online or over the phone or because someone recommended them. You have to take the time to meet each vendor. During the face to face time it is important that you let them know who else will be contributing to the success of the event. At La Bella Bride Magazine experts recommend that you distribute a contact sheet with vendors’ names and telephone numbers to each supplier, you should encourage vendors to feel free to speak with each other. Why? When vendors go off and work by themselves there’s a disconnection and not everyone will see or understand your vision. Letting everyone know who the other vendors are crates a bonding energy that money can’t buy. You’ll have a united team on your behalf expressing your desires and putting their best effort.

Tip 2: 24 Hour Rule

Respond to all emails and phone calls within 24 hours. It may seem impossible to do at times with your busy schedule but the 24 hour rule still applies. If you ignore emails and think, “I’ll get to them this weekend,” what you are really telling your vendor is you have other more important things to do and that you’re not on top of things. This also gives them permission to do the same thing. To keep yourself organized we at Fancy Party Planning recommend you invest in a binder, plastic sheet protectors and folders. Fill your binder with fabric swatches, pictures of flowers, table décor, pictures of the favors and every other little detail you can think of, keep one folder for your signed contracts. Next, have a smaller note pad with all your daily-to-do-list and contact numbers and keep it with you at all times.

Tip 3: Giving

If you treat me well, then I’ll treat you well. According to a number of wedding experts they suggest to take the time to speak and make a personal connection with the people that most people tend to ignore, assistants, coat check girl, waiters, lobby doormen, videographer, photographer. By the time the wedding day arrives the large staff would feel invested in making the day a triumph for you and your family. Even if things don’t seem or appear to match what you expected just have fun and enjoy your day. We’re just suggesting that treating others with respect can reap rewards if you don’t diminish others when things don’t go your way.

Tip 4: Smoothing the Edges

For most couples, money and budgets are an important consideration and the major planning difficulties do relate to budgets. When someone seems completely upset, the best thing to do is simply let that person express her concerns and listen. The reason people calm down as you replay what is upsetting to them is because they feel they have broken through the communication barrier. We all need to be heard. It doesn’t necessarily mean you have to agree with them, it just simply suggests you understand their concern. Never dismiss them or the emotion as something silly.

Becoming a Wedding Planner

As you may know after planning my wedding I became increasing interested in the wedding business and decided to be a wedding planner. It's not as easy as people think it is...a lot of hard work comes with that title. I finished taking Samantha Goldberg's course and had a great learning experience and can't wait to continue educating my self in the new profession I'm about to embark.

Good night!

When will the wedding air on TV?

That's the question I get everyday jee jee...well I finally have an answer the wedding will air May 26 @ 10Pm on the Style Channel on the TV show "Whose Wedding Is It Anyway" in case you didn't already know. I can't wait to see this...I already heard there's going to be a lot of bleeping....OMG I'm getting nervous.

I like this song as a closer for my wedding video!

Ok changed my mind I like this song as a closer for my wedding video! What do you think? It's called Wedding Day!

Monday, April 13, 2009

What do you think of this song? I need your help

As you may know I'm still working on the production of my wedding video and need some help in selecting the last song. I want something mellow for the ending because I want people to take in everything they just saw and cry happy tears of joy!

I love the song "Perfect Day" by Lou Reed although, I know he wrote this song about his addiction to heroin. However, art is in the eye of the beholder and to me the song is about any day being perfect as long as your with the one you love. Because my wedding day was the best day of my life, I married the love of my life I think this song is perfect for our happy ending. To me the song is actually a happy one and not depressing what do you think? Click below to hear this song and tell me what you think...

Favorite Spanish Movie

Amores Perros...

Watch this foreign film it's another one of my favorites. Well not so foreign for me since I speak Spanish jee jee but you'll love it guaranteed .

Spoiler: Hard on the eyes to watch.

Amalyn Style: Jumpsuits

Jumpsuits are making a comeback! The late 70’s and 80’s style continue to make a comeback and now hotter than ever with “Jumpsuits”. I know what you’re thinking 80’s disco queen at Studio 54 with big hair lol. But don’t be afraid to try this look it’s something fresh and new. This ensemble is a little uncomfortable when it’s time to go to the bathroom because you have to get undressed every time but the little hassle is all worth it if you want to rock the latest fashion trend. However, it’s easy getting dressed because it’s just one piece. Express, Arden B, and Forever 21 have a great selection of these one piece ensembles and you won't have any trouble finding an appropriate jumpsuit for your body type.

5 x 2 by Francois Ozon

I love to watch foreign films because I love to listen to other languages. I’m also more involved and pay more attention to the movie because of course I have to read the subtitles jee jee. However, if it’s a French or Italian film I’m usually able to understand a few words here and there.

My husband and I recently watched “5 times 2” by one of my favorite foreign directors Francois Ozon, he directed “Swimming Pool” one of my favorite mystery movies. One of the reasons I love his movies is because after watching them you feel the need to discuss it with someone so if you’re thinking of watching this alone don’t. The director leaves you with a ton of questions and imaginative endings. Francois Ozon is very imaginative and creative in his films but they are also difficult to watch like 5x2 and you want to have someone to talk about it.

In this film Ozon is telling us that there are not always two sides to the story it’s more complicated than that. In this movie we see 5 stages in this couples life Ozon shows the couple’s relationship from their first meeting up through their divorce. But he presents the story in reverse order which makes it a bit complicated because we are not use to seeing movies in that order. In the first scene we see the couple in the arbitrator’s office finalizing their divorce, and then the second scene is another stage in their life before the divorce and so on; finally the last scene its how they met and we make our own conclusions on why they ended up in divorce.

Do you like foreign films? If so what are some of your favorites?

Production of my wedding video

Wow! I feel like I haven't blogged in so long but it's because I'm working day and night on the production of my wedding video I'm directing it. However, along the process of directing I'm also learning how to edit weddings and its fun! The video is coming along great and can't wait to show off the finished product. It's going to be done just in time for the nice weather, because I will be visiting a lot of people on the weekends and will be bringing along my video and photo album which will be done soon too.

Brazilian Bikini Wax

Did you guys know that the New Jersey Board of Cosmetology may ban “Brazilian” bikini wax in the next few months? Is our freedom going to shambles? Since when is it anybody’s business what we do to our bodies! Supposedly genital waxing have always been illegal in New Jersey but never enforced.

It’s unfortunate for the two people that got a Brazilian wax and ended up hospitalized, but does the whole state have to suffer for it. FYI they are now suing. A few things probably went wrong 1) they didn’t take the proper care after getting the Brazilian wax or 2) they didn’t go to a professional. Giving someone a Brazilian requires a certain technique and training. Going back 10 years ago it was not easy to find a salon that offered this service. However, it seems like every salon is offering Brazilian waxes now and that’s scary. That part of the skin is extremely sensitive and once waxed all the pores are open and a trained specialist should advise their customers they can't tan, can’t go swimming, and can’t have sexual intercourse and shower until the next day. It’s a very private situation and you should find a salon with a reputable specialist that knows what they are doing and has had training in the subject.

I think the salons that offer this service and have no training should be banned. Only trained specialist should continue to offer this service and keep their customers informed on how to care for the genital area after getting a Brazilian wax done. I would love to hear your thoughts on this subject.
