Super Bowl Sunday every guy's favorite holiday!

The biggest game of the year brings trouble….I researched a few things you can do to protect yourself on Sunday.

1) Ladies don’t let your man drive. Auto body shops love the Super Bowl for this reason. A study found a rise of 50 percent increase in car accidents after the game finished compared to other Sundays. Therefore don’t ruin the night by a dumb accident that could have been avoided.

2) Be smart when snacking. More calories are consumed on Super Bowl Sunday than any other day of the year so be sure to stock up your fridge with healthy snacks. Here’s my list of healthy snacks you can have on Sunday:

California sushi or veggie
Vegetable platter
Fruit platter
Healthy Panini sandwiches
Vegetable chips
Organic salted brown pretzels
Organic dark chocolate bars
Blue corn tortilla chips with black bean dip
Veggie pizza
Trial mix
Gram crakers
Green salad
Pasta salad with no cheese
Spring rolls

Also be smart about you’re beer drink light or skip beer and have organic wine.

3) One last thing that we all do and I’m guilty myself is call out the next day. A study showed 6% of working Americans call in sick the day after Super Bowl. So until it’s declared an official 3 day weekend get your ass to work.

Have a fun and safe Super Bowl guys.

Amalyn Style: Make-up Secrets

I love this Mac gel liner it's called Fluidline. If you like the look of a liquid eye liner or have used liquid eye liners in the past you know it's pretty hard to apply and get a straight line, well with this gel it's so easy to use and you get even better results. It wears long and is smudge proof so you won't get a yucky line on your eyelid or on your eye shadow. All you need is a thin brush (see below for picture of brush) to achieve the dramatic look you want. Trust me you'll love this product!

Fashion Police at the SAG Awards

As you all know I love fashion and I love to give my advice on what's hot and what's not! I watched the SAG Awards this Sunday because I love to see the styles and dresses the celebrities are wearing. I have a few favorites and well a few that lets just say should have been arrested for wearing it lol! Here are my favorite dresses of the night!

Love the color and the style, it's different and fun and the jewelry was ill! You go Christina!

Another beautiful color the neckline was cool something different other than the off the shoulder dresses we've been seeing allot of lately!

This is a hard color to pull off but Ann did it with style love this cut it's very elegant and classy and the bling gave it an extra glamorous touch!

Some of my least favorite of the night were the following:

Don't know what she was thinking but this dress is just plain old boring.

This dress looks more like a wedding dress and fits her too big sorry I don't like it.

This dress looks a bit out of style and cheap.

There you have it my style advice of the best and worst dressed....let me know what you think!

Kenneth Pool wedding dresses

Kenneth Pool wedding dresses are by far my favorite! When I got married my dress had to be from this collection because the designs are dramatic, glamorous and sophisticated. Austin Scarlett is the designer and director of the Kenneth Pool line he was first discovered on the first season of Bravo’s Project Runway. I love that he’s bringing the glamour of old Hollywood back but of course with a modern edge. Copy the link below to view the spring 2009 Kenneth Pool Wedding Dress collection.

Amalyn Style: Winter Dresses

I love to wear dresses and just because its winter doesn't mean I can't. I love this winter dress it's a plain gray turtleneck with a black loose skirt attached. Because accessories are my best friend I added a red belt, a bulky black necklace and leggings then I topped it off with a pair of black boots! All I wear in the winter is boots love them!

Skinny Bitch

I read an amazing book yesterday that made me think twice of the food I was putting into my body it’s called “Skinny Bitch” by Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin! The reason I love this book is because these girls tell it to you like it is. This book is not a diet book but a way of life, the book is only 190 pages not long at all, I read it in one day. Before I read the book I made chicken for dinner and couldn’t eat it after I finished reading…yuck!

I have to agree being skinny is a life style! If not we will be on diets the rest of our lives. As a young girl I ate what ever I wanted and didn’t gain weight but after turning 25 it all caught up with me. Now that I'm older I realize that I can’t eat all the junk I want because it not only affects my body it also affects my mind, I don’t know about you but after I eat something that is fattening I always feel horrible afterwards. I’m going to take it one day at a time first I’ll start by not drinking soda but more water, no alcohol only organic wine, no milk which I don’t anyways but I will have to give up cheese 

Drink Milk it does a body good….whatever! Have you ever wondered why we are the only species on the plant that drinks milk as adults? And, we are also the only species on the planet that drinks the milk of another species. Yuck…I knew milk was bad I hate the taste so this won’t be a problem for me.

Here’s something for you to think about! “When a woman gives birth, her body produces milk and she nurses her child right. Breast milk can grow an 8 pound newborn into a 24 pound toddler…now that’s fattening huh, but that’s what Mother Nature intended because it allows the biggest growth spurt of a person’s entire life. Now, cow’s milk grows a 90 pound calf into a 2,000 pound cow over the course of two years now that’s even more fattening than human milk, but it should be because cows are bigger than humans get it.” (Skinny Bitch, page56 & 57) What the authors of the book are saying is that Mother Nature is no fool; our bodies have just what we need to get by. She didn’t intend for grownups to suck their mothers’ tits therefore we don’t need milk as adults.

The Inaugural Ball

Today Barack Obama will be sworn in as the 44th president of the United States and I couldn’t be happier because this is a new chapter in our country’s history and I’m living proof of it, it feels good to be alive today. I’m sure Dr. Martin Luther King is smiling from heaven!

Guys it’s time for a “CHANGE” and we all need to celebrate so get up from that couch and head to a party, the city will be hosting tons of parties after work or just host your own invite a few friends and watch the main event of the night. I won’t be in the city today but I’ll be at my mother’s house with my family drinking, eating and celebrating.

Watch the Inaugural Ball at 8:00PM on ABC….Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey, Fait Hill, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Shakira and many more will be performing today so don’t miss history in the making!

One more thing thank you for voting guys you definatly made my decision easier on whether to cut my hair or not and it looks like most of you voted “No” so for now I’ll keep my hair long, Thanks!

Oh on Desperate Housewives update did you guys think it was the saddest episode of the season? OMG, can we get to the action… enough with the sadness already p…lease!

Blast from the Past!

Hello! Once a month or maybe once a week not sure yet how long I'll keep this up but I will try to post an old school picture of my family, me and of Tony!

This picture was taken at a church in New York City. The beautiful women is my mom she's carrying my little brother and that's me with my mouth open lol! This was our christening.

2009 Trends for Engagement rings

Everyone wants to know what the trendy new style of Engagement rings are for 2009! And for those in the process of purchasing a ring with Valentines Day approaching or if you’re printing pictures for your boyfriends to see what you want and hope he listens and pops the question on February 14, you’ll want to read this!

In 2008 we saw a lot of bling and lets face it, us women today are all about the glittery-shimmering and 2009 hasn’t changed much. We’re going to see a lot of bling, color and metals this year.

First off is the PAVE setting. If bling is what you want then pave settings are for you. This is for the woman that wants her ring to sparkle from every angle and there’s nothing more sparkly than a diamond set on a pave band. In case you’re wondering pave is pronounced pah-vay. Who said you can’t get engaged in these economic times? Did you know that Pave diamonds look more expensive because all you see are rows of diamonds and you get more for your money. The pavement of diamonds maximizes a rings beauty but not the cost. The most popular metal for pave is Platinum. Pave settings are delicate with a contemporary and at the same time vintage look.

Another popular trend is the BEZEL set this type of ring is for the women on the go. It’s a modern twist to the solitaire rather than prongs the diamond is held into the setting by a metal rim that encases the entire stone. The setting holds the diamond securely because this setting protects the edges of the diamond and prevents chipping it’s the prefect choice for the active women. This makes a very modern look.

Another trend is we want more and more…who want’s one diamond when we can have three beautiful ones. More and more women are going for this sentiment trend because it represents the past, present and future. And for men because three stone rings are typically somewhat cheaper than solitaire engagement rings of similar carat weight. This is because larger solitaire stones are rarer and therefore more expensive than three smaller stones that add up to the same weight. Did you know it was originally suppose to be an anniversary band? Couples are using this ring alone as a wedding band and engagement ring and makes quite an impression. Madonna is known to receive a three stone diamond ring from Guy Ritchie.

We can’t forget about the trendiest of all rings the tension mount engagement ring. This is said to allow more light to reflect off the diamond when compared with traditional settings. Apparently this setting has been out since the 60’s and according to some jewelers even more secure than traditional settings but that seems like a hot topic to debate in the jewelry industry.

Last but not least the major trend we’re going to see in 2009 is color…forget about the colorless diamonds girls it’s all about color this year. Did you know that the late Princess Diana was given a huge sapphire and diamond engagement ring? I love this idea but don’t get me wrong diamonds are great but adding some color to the ring can make it intriguing and interesting.

Omg! I just cooked my first meal on the crock pot last night and it was amazing. I was afraid to try it while I wasn’t home and since yesterday we were snowed in it was the perfect day. I put 2 pieces of steak with potatoes and carrots added a little bit of water, salt, pepper and steak sauce and 5 hours later it was done. The steak was so soft and tender that we didn’t even need a steak knife. The steak was so delicious that I even surprised myself and couldn’t believe how good this meal turned out. My cousin Sarah gave this to me as a shower gift and I think every women should owe one of these kitchen helpers it’s like having your own personal cook all you have to do is set it then walk away and do a few errands and when you return you'll be surprise to see that the personal chef (crock pot) will have a hot meal waiting for you and your husband or your other half, how perfect is that and it’s perfectly safe. This is one of the best kitchen inventions I have discovered aside from dishwasher which I don’t own one yet!

check out this video from my honeymoon in Mexico

The hotel had a night for all the newlyweds to attend a dinner together and interact with each other, it was fun talking, drinking and laughing with other couples that shared our same wedding date! We were picked to play a game and the object of the game was to get the ball up to our chest without touching it with your hands. This is what I told my husband before we went on stage "we are the only spanish people here so we better win" jee jee it was fun and we won!

Anna style: Ugg boots

To add to my footwear collection I got these Ugg's for Christmas (chocolate) and had to share the scope with you because I have been living in them ever since they are the most comfortable boots I own. At first they seemed a little heavy and a bit snugged but then I got use to the weight and they're not heavy at all, and about the fit they're suppose to fit a little snug, now they've shaped into my feet and adjusted. The Upside boots are a must-have this season and this is why:

luxurious beautiful suede
insole is a sheepskin sock that naturally keeps moisture away and feet dry
very stylish cuffs and laced up sides
rubber pods for durably, traction and you won't fall lol
they are sexy, guys like them
very confortable and fashionable
popular style

If you like the old style but are looking for a more stylish look then this Upside boot is for you.
Check out their website: http://www.uggaustralia.com/index.aspx

And if you get them let me know what you think!

Wedding planner

So I’m thinking of becoming a wedding planner because after planning my wedding I realized I have a passion for weddings! I mean I thought I would stop looking at bridal magazines, wedding shows and wedding stuff on the net after my wedding but I haven’t stopped and it’s been 3 months already. I know it’s a challenging career but I’m willing to give it a try, I’m really looking forward to pursuing this! I have been thinking about taking Samantha’s wedding planning (the planner from “whose wedding is it anyway”) course in February! I’ll keep you posted on my new adventure.

Over the weekend my husband and I went to the movies to see “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” not my first choice in movie to watch but my husband wanted to see it. I wasn’t looking forward to watching it at first because I thought the story line was a bit stupid about a man growing younger. But I was wrong it’s an excellent movie and Brad Pitt was amazing! I recommend watching it! It was funny at times and sad, but it was also funny watching Brad Pitt look so old and unattractive lol. If you ever thought how things would be backwards this movie puts things in perspective for you it shows us how weird and un-functional things would be!

I just have to say something about last nights Desperate Housewives “I love Lynette” she is one heck of a mom! The world would be a much better place if there where more moms like her she is tough and defends her family with all the power she’s got, I just love that about her. Well guys until next time, if you have any questions about love, fashion, wedding etc. just send me a note.
